Wassup Tay Dizm? Thanks for taking the time out with iStandardProducers to share with our community First off, in one sentence describe your music.

My music style is a reflection of me it’s different, real cool, laid back and it’s always ready for a Party!

You started out as a hype man for T-Pain, to being a major recording artist on his label. How would you describe your relationship with him these days?

Since the beginning Me and Pain been like brothers. I had the opportunity to watch him become a mega star and now it’s my turn. I got nothing but respect for my homie he’s a genius and we gonna continue winning out here, that’s all we do! Nappy Boyyyy!

You have a strong web presence and garnered a lot of attention through this medium. Now that everyone is on the Internet, are you finding it more difficult to keep your buzz and your fans engaged?

Not at all, I have a great team and they always make sure I get the right looks out here. My fans are the best and my buzz is Crazy right now. Since there are more people out there you gotta give em more content. That’s why I keep hittin y’all with the hottest videos and that music……Oh Amazing

During your come-up, you’ve done a lot of notable features. What is your approach to working with other artists?

Man I’m out here going hard I’m open to working with anybody but always seems like the best collabs just happen you know.

Do you have any great stories of a memorable studio session with T-Pain or any other artist?

I have so many but one of my most memorable moments was on tour with Pain. He had me crowd surf ing on my birthday. The crowd carried me all the way to the back of the arena and by the time I made it back to the stage I returned with no shoes and no socks it was amazing!

As an artist looking for production, it can be overwhelming to sift through the bombardment of material that’s out there. How does a site like iStandardProducers.com, help you manage this issue?

That’s simple you get exactly what you ask for and lots of it and that makes all the difference in the world

So when are we gonna get the next round of new music?

I’m always putting out new music and videos cuz it feels good to stay fresh! Ya Dig! I also just released my new mixtape “ Point Em Out The Mixtape” so go download it right now at grooveshark.com

Where can we expect from you in the net year or two?

Be prepared to be amazed!

Anything else you would like to say?

As a matter of fact I do have something to say to all my people : talk to me and I talk back. Hit me on twitter (@TayDizm). check me out on Facebook and join the fan page.  Also, go look at all my videos and don’t forget to check out Taydizm.com…….Outta Heya!

No Shades

Wirtten by J-Hatch

Whats up Stan? Let everyone know who you are and what you do.

My Name is Stanley Marseille, I work for Chase Entertainment & Nappy Boy Entertainment. I’m a product manager, road manager, A&R, and whatever else needs to be done for the camp, I’m a man that wears many hats.

I have known you personally for a good 8-9 years, you were previously over at JIVE Records working in the A&R Dept w/ Jeff Fenster, let everyone know how you got involved with JIVE and what invaluable knowledge you have absorbed with working at the label?

Well I originally started in the music business January 2005 at Interscope Records. I interned for the director of marketing Robert Caiaffa. After almost a year at Interscope, Caiaffa was hired to work at Jive he liked what I was doing so he decided to take me a long with him. About a year later Caiaffa then left to Def Jam he asked me to come along but I decided to stay because I didn’t want to keep packing up and leaving everytime he got a new situation. I wanted to make a situation for myself. Caiaffa respected that and helped secure me a position as a temp under the Sony umbrella (well SonyBMG at the time) after about a month of being a temp I got a call from Sony HR stating that there is a position open as an assistant to the SVP of A&R Jeff Fenster. That was like a no brainer to me so I gladly accepted the position and started working for Jeff in July of 2007.

Working for Jeff at the beginning was very hard, his assistants wouldn’t last longer then a couple months before he would get feed up and let them go. I ended up being the longest assistant he had up until I decided to leave back to Miami to handle personal issues with my family. Jeff was the best thing to happen to me so early in my career being that he was very well respected among his peers in the business and with being the right hand man to Barry Weiss (CEO of Sony). From learning how to speak the artists language, understanding the process it takes to create a record, ship it, market it and promote it, and most importantly how to not to let the business take over you and your personal beliefs. For that I am forever thankful for Jeff and Jive Records for giving me the opportunity.

You are currently at Nappy Boy, T Pains label, how did you make that transition and what are the main differences between working with a major label and a boutique label?

When I left NYC I started working at a very small Mom and Pop owned music label in Miami, I didn’t stay there long because the way they handled business was not how I expected it to be. I felt like my name was getting a bad reputation for being associated with them. I couldn’t afford that so early in my career so I decided to call one of T-Pain’s managers, Mike Blumstein because I knew T-Pain was getting ready to release his new album Epiphany. Long story short, I started working with the team about week after I made the call.

The main difference between a major label and a indie label is the money. Working at an indie you have to be a lot more creative on how money is spent. The major label have enough money to do pretty much whatever they want, but just as easily as money being the main difference they both share a common goal, and that’s to successfully establish an artist in the business and sell millions of records.

How has the game changed since you started?

The game is def not what it used to be when I first got into it, everything is digital now. Hackers and leaked albums are at an all time high. We are in the digital era where album sales are at an all time low and single sales are just sky rocketing. The Consumer doesn’t want to listen to a whole album anymore.

Who are some of your priority artists on the label and what type of production are they looking for specifically?

Our top priorites are Ahmad Belvin (Pop artist signed to J Records), Sophia Fresh ( 3 girl R&B/ Pop group from Houston signed to Atlantic Records/ Nappy Boy Entertainment), One Chance ( 4 male R&B/ Pop group from Chicago), Tay Dizm (Rapper from Miami) and Young Cash (Rapper from Jacksonville, FL)

When it comes to new producers, what stands out to you? How do you know when a producer has potential?

The creative sounds that are used, the arrangement of the tracks, a very creative bridge, & lots of energy.

When is T Pain’s album coming out and what can we expect to hear?

There’s no date set for when T-Pain’s album is coming out but when it does it will def be a monster! This might be his best album he’s put together. I cant wait for everyone to hear it!

Any advice you can give new producers on the come up?

Be yourself! Create your own lane, dont be afraid to change the game!

Shouts?

To the boss man T-Pain & The Whole Nappy Boy Family! Ahmad Belvin, Detail, Bei Majeor, Catalyst, All-Star and everybody that enjoys life!
